Children are the same the world over…
Some are older than their years
Others stand taller than their fears
Some ride bicycles to school
Others ride buffaloes to work
They may be worlds apart
but they all giggle and snigger at a fart
They don’t waste time or save energy
for a future that hasn’t yet come
They put their heart and limbs into every moment
just for fun
because they understand that to be naked and honest
is not to be vulnerable and weak
and that joy is something you live every day
not something you neglect only to later regret and seek
and when you give them mud
flip flops
a few elastic bands tied together
and they’ll make a game of it
and become best friends forever
